Specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU took part in the event dedicated to the commercialisation of university innovations
On November 5, Odesa hosted an organisational meeting: “Commercialisation of University Innovations”. The event was held at the Odesa National Economic University. Representatives of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU took part in the event.
The Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, Igor Taranov, delivered a welcoming speech. The head of the department greeted the participants and organisers, emphasising the importance of holding events of this format. For his part, Vladyslav Mykhailenko, Leading Officer of the Office, presented general information about the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe and provided statistics on the participation of Ukrainian researchers and innovators in the Programme.
In addition, during the event a project to create a platform for university innovation and economic development was presented/ It is the initiative that will become an important tool for commercialising scientific research, promoting innovation, and strengthening cooperation between universities, researchers, and businesses. It is being implemented by the 8th EU Programme Horizon 2020 on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The project will run through 2025.
During the presentation, the participants discussed and exchanged views and ideas on the principles of creating a platform for university innovations for economic development. Among other things, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the challenges and prospects for commercialising university innovations, including ways and planning specific actions on bridging the gap between research and business.
Summarising the speakers’ speeches, Igor Taranov called on all those interested to take part in Horizon Europe calls without delay. The Head of the Office noted that the Programme supports projects in various areas, which opens up wide opportunities for potential participants. This is important not only for the development of science and innovation in Ukraine, especially in the context of its post-war recovery, but also for strengthening research and innovation processes in Europe, which will contribute to a generally higher standard of living.
At the end of the event, a networking was held with representatives of universities, businesses, and government agencies, which allowed everyone to establish contacts with potential partners with the prospect of launching joint projects to transfer university knowledge and technology. In total, more than 200 participants attended the event in person and joined online.
