On June 17, in Chernivtsi, the team of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine continued to hold the training event “Horizon Europe Work Programme 2025 and Grants of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine – New Opportunities for Ukrainian Scientists and Innovators”.

Representatives of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration: Deputy Head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration Roman Hreba and Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration Oleh Drebot joined the event with welcome speech. For his part, Igor Taranov, Head of Department of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, thanked the representatives of the regional administration for supporting the initiative to hold the training event and noted the high awareness of the guests about the Horizon Europe Programme.

The second day of the event was opened by Nataliia Didenko, Deputy Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine. The participants were presented with new perspectives in the field of food and agriculture for 2025, combined in Horizon Europe Cluster 6, and the EU Mission “Soil Deal for Europe”.

In addition, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the specific aspects of organisational support of the NRFU’s calls from Tetiana Beregova, Head of the Grant Support Division, NRFU. Serhii Petrukha, Head of the NRFU’s Financial Support Division, provided detailed information on the specifics of preparing the financial and economic part of the grant application and the budget for the NRFU’s calls.

The specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine presented the calls opened in 2025 within the HE Clusters. In particular, Vladyslav Mykhailenko focused on the opportunities of the Horizon Europe Programme in the field of ecology and environmental protection, the EU Missions “Restore our Ocean and Waters” and “Adaptation to Climate Change’. Lyudmyla Lisova presented the calls of the Cluster 1 “Health” and the EU Mission “Cancer”. Maksym Kolisnyk detailed information on the grant funding opportunities under the Cluster 4 “Digital, Industry and Space” and the EU Mission “Climate Neutral and Smart Cities” of the Work Programme 2025.

The event ended with an active question and answer session, during which the inquirers received professional and thorough answers to all their questions. Igor Taranov, Head of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, summed up the event by thanking the participants for their great interest in the opportunities provided to Ukrainian scientists, researchers and innovators by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and the European Union through the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, which is extremely important in today’s context. Finally, there was an equally productive networking part, during which the participants had the opportunity to communicate with specialists responsible for certain areas of the Programme and establish professional contacts.

Overall, the two-day training programme was quite intense. The topics covered represent only a portion of the information that specialists at the Office are frequently asked about. That is why such events are held to inform and educate the national scientific and research community and to help Ukrainian participants prepare high-quality applications and succeed in Horizon Europe calls.
