Synergy of digital innovations and scientific research for Ukraine’s recovery: a round table discussion in cooperation with Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine was held at KNEU
On June 19, the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University hosted the round table discussion “Horizon Europe and the European Digital Innovation Hub Win2EDIH: Synergy of Digital Innovation and Research for Ukraine’s Recovery”. The event was held with the organisational and informational support of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, the European Digital Innovation Hub Win2EDIH, and the Kyiv City State Administration as part of the project to develop the European Digital Innovation Hub.
The Department “Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine”, NRFU, was presented by its Head Igor Taranov and Deputy Head Nataliia Didenko. Igor Taranov spoke in detail about the activities of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, which has been operating for more than a year and a half on the basis of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and successfully achieves the tasks of disseminating knowledge and promoting the EU Horizon Europe Framework Programme among the national scientific and research community. In addition, the Head of the Office presented opportunities for Ukrainian scientists in the context of the European Research Council.
Also, Nataliia Didenko, Deputy Head of the Department, spoke about the Horizon Europe Programme. She presented the opportunities available to potential participants this year. Among other things, the speaker focused on the Information Days and calls announced by the European Commission as part of the new work programme for 2025.
It should be noted that the event was very informative. Participants had the opportunity to learn not only about grant opportunities from the EU, but also about the tools of European digital innovation hubs in the restoration of Ukraine’s economy, in particular, on the examples of WIN2EDIH, NOSC-UA DIH and Kyiv High Tech. The speakers included representatives of the Kyiv National Economic University, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, Kyiv Academic University, the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Union of Entrepreneurs of Small, Medium and Privatised Enterprises of Ukraine, and the Stairway to the Future Innovation Centre.
Besides the informational part, the participants witnessed the signing of agreements between WIN2EDIH, which includes KNEU, Ukrainian Startup Fund, Zhytomyr Polytechnic, Chernihiv Polytechnic, Home of Startups Accelerator LLC, Innovation Partnership Platform (YEP), and associated partners Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Stairway to the Future Innovation Centre.
In general, the round table was aimed at bringing together key stakeholders – representatives of science, business, government and civil society – around the ideas of cooperation within the Horizon Europe Programme and the tools of the European Digital Innovation Hub WIN2EDIH. The goal is to promote partnerships between research institutions, higher education institutions, businesses, government agencies and digital innovation hubs to accelerate Ukraine’s recovery, digitalisation and innovative development in the context of European integration.
