On September 30, the team of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine held an information event: “Grant Opportunities of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and Support Tools within the Horizon Europe Programme”. The event was organised for representatives of the State Research Institute of Cyber Security and Information Protection Technologies, who have a lot of developments and want not only to get extra funding to support their activities, but also to join the international scientific and research scene.

Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, addressed the participants with welcome speech and opened the Working Session with general information about the NRFU. Yehor Pyvovarov, Policy Officer for Research and Innovation, Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, who spoke highly about the work of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU. Volodymyr Pavlikov, Head of the State Research Institute of Cyber Security Technologies, also welcomed the participants. The key message of their speeches was the importance of developing cybersecurity in our country. In addition, they emphasised the importance of Ukraine entering the international research area, particularly in this sector.

During the event, the following issues were highlighted: organisational support for NRFU calls, from application to project evaluation, presented by Tetiana Beregova, Head of the Grant Support Division, NRFU, and the financial and economic part of the grant application for NRFU calls, covered by Yuliia Honchar, Head of the Grant Projects Financing Department, Financial Support Division, NRFU.

For their part, specialists of the Department “Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine”, NRFU, informed participants about grant opportunities offered by the European Union, in particular the Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, focusing on clusters related to the activity of the State Research Institute of Cyber Security Technologies. Nataliia Didenko, Deputy Head of the Department, presented an overview of the Programme. And the leading officers, Nadiia Naumova and Maksym Kolisnyk, presented the calls announced by the European Commission in the Work Programme 2025, under Cluster 3 “Civil Security for Society” and Cluster 4 “Digital, Industry and Space” respectively.

Finally, participants had the opportunity to ask speakers questions about participating in calls of the NRFU and Horizon Europe. The Q&A session was very lively, the on-site audience and online participants asked many different questions, which were answered in detail by the experts. In total, about 100 representatives of the Institute of Cyber Security Technologies attended the event in person and online.

Volodymyr Pavlikov, Head of the Institute, summed up the information event. He thanked the organisers and speakers of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine for a very informative event, which will encourage State Research Institute to participate in calls funded by both the Ukrainian Government and the European Union. He also expressed his hope for further fruitful cooperation between the institutions and wished his employees to write only successful grant applications.

State Research Institute of Cyber Security and Information Protection Technologies is a leading research institution in the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
