Information event held by the EC on financial support tool for Ukrainian deep-tech startups and SMEs
Employees of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, constantly improve their knowledge of specific aspects of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe. On October 24, representatives of the Office participated in an online information session dedicated to the financial support tool for Ukrainian deep-tech startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): Support for the Ukrainian tech SMEs and startups HORIZON-EIC-2025-UKRAINIANTECH-01. The event was organised by the European Innovation Council (EIC).
During the event, Jean-David Malo, Acting Director for ERA and Innovation in DG RTD, EC, presented an overview of the political context for supporting Ukrainian innovators. In his speech, he emphasised that the initiative is part of the European Commission’s comprehensive efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s innovation potential amid the ongoing war in the country. He also noted the role of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, which provides advisory support to Ukrainian researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs on participating in the Programme’s calls, in particular the European Innovation Council tools.
We remind that the initiative provides funding from €300,000 to €500,000 per project in the form of a lump sum grant. The total budget of the call is €20 million, and the deadline date is November 26, 2025.
During the information session, representatives of the European Commission and the Executive Agency for the European Innovation Council and SMEs (EISMEA) explained in detail the terms and conditions of participation, evaluation criteria and application requirements, as well as additional opportunities for Ukrainian companies. At the end of the event, the experts answered potential applicants’ questions.
