On November 24, the first joint online meeting was held, dedicated to the MSCA-GLOPOL CMPG project (https://msca-glopol.eu/), in particular, establishing future cooperation towards the promoting new opportunities within the Horizon Europe Maria Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) among Ukrainian institutions. Employees of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, took part in the meeting.

Dalibor P. Drlyacha, Regional Liaison Officer in the Eastern Partnership countries and the Western Balkans, presented the project’s key aspects, tasks and goals, outlined the format of the CMPG’s work, its role in the implementation of the initiative, and also presented a plan of measures for its further promotion. Participants received detailed information on the MSCA-GLOPOL initiative aimed at strengthening international cooperation and enhancing global visibility within MSCA.

Among other things, the parties discussed the possibilities of jointly informing universities, scientific institutions and organisations about the advantages of participating in MSCA calls. During the meeting, an agreement on the joint action plan to support the participation of Ukrainian researchers in future calls was reached.

Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, emphasised that this initiative will provide significant support and have a significant impact on strengthening Ukrainian scientific potential, ensuring its sustainable development even in wartime conditions. According to him, joint actions will contribute not only to the preservation of existing research capabilities, but will also open up new opportunities for Ukrainian scientists. Such collaboration is of strategic importance for Ukraine, as it strengthens integration into the European Research Area.

The participants of the meeting agreed on further close cooperation within the project in the nearest future. We are talking about conducting a series of training events, information sessions and consultations on the preparation of project applications. Potential directions of joint actions to increase the capacity of Ukrainian scientists were also outlined. It is expected that the agreed actions will significantly expand Ukraine’s participation in MSCA projects in 2026.

MSCA Global Cooperation: Policy Enhancement and Strategic Promotion (MSCA-GLOPOL) is a three-year project under the Horizon Europe funded by the European Union aimed at strengthening international research cooperation and promoting inclusive participation in MSCA calls. Ukraine – among the countries participating in the project, which brought together a total of 26 global regions.
