On December 3, employees of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine held an information session dedicated to the grant opportunities of the NRFU and support tools within the Horizon Europe Programme. The event was organised and held for Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University, which is significantly interested in receiving additional funding for scientific, research and innovative activities from both the state and the EU.

The event was opened by the Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, Olga Polotska, who congratulated the participants and emphasised the importance of the participation of domestic institutions of higher education in state and European support programmes. Olena Karaman, Rector of Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University, also gave a welcoming speech. She thanked the National Foundation for its support and expressed hope for strengthening further cooperation.

The working part began with detailed information about the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, its structure and activities, types of grant support presented by its Executive Director Olga Polotska.

For their part, specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU presented an overview of the Horizon Europe Programme (Leading Officer Vladyslav Mykhailenko), the results of the work of HEOinUA for Ukrainian participants of the Programme (Head of the Department Igor Taranov), as well as the peculiarities of work on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal (Deputy Head of the Department Nataliia Didenko).

The event ended with an active question and answer session. In particular, university representatives were interested in special opportunities from the European Union for higher education institutions. Specialists of the Office instructed the requesters to find and monitor such opportunities both on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal and in the information resources of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, where current news is promptly posted.

Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University – is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Ukraine. The university has suffered huge losses since 2014, and after the start of a full-scale war, it was forced to relax and continue its activities remotely.
