On December 4-5, the All-Ukrainian training on improving the qualifications of managers and administrators of science of Ukraine will take place at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine Olga Polotska and Head of the Department “Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine”, NRFU Igor Taranov took part as speakers on the first day of the event.

The Executive Director of the NRFU joined the greetings of the participants. Representatives of the NRFU also spoke in the panel dedicated to grant activities. In particular, Olga Polotska informed those who were present about the activities of the NRFU, its structure, as well as types of grant support. Among other things, the speaker said a few words about the future opportunities that would open up for Ukrainian participants of NRFU calls in 2026.

The grant opportunities provided by the European Union, namely: the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe, was presented by the Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine. Igor Taranov presented the pillars and components of the Programme, as well as statistical data on the participation of Ukrainian organisations in them, comparing it with the previous Programme Horizon 2020. In addition, he spoke about the activities of the Office aimed at spreading knowledge about Horizon Europe among all those interested in participating in the Programme, contributing to an increase in the number of successfully submitted applications from Ukrainian participants.

In general, the purpose of the training is to form an understanding of the role of a science manager in a higher education institution and effective management for the further formation of a national community of professional, competitive, open to dialogue, constant development and cooperation of science managers in a modern university. The format of the event combines theory and practice: participants are offered theoretical knowledge and real cases, an open microphone and networking for communication.

The event was organised by Taras Shevchenko KNU together with the NGO “Professional Network of Higher Education and Science Managers of Ukraine – PNRM Ukraine” with the support of the Board of Vice-Rectors for Scientific Work of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the German-Ukrainian Academic Society, and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. Target audience – vice-rectors, deputy deans and directors of scientific work, managers and employees of research units, project offices, patent licensing departments and other academic managers interested in developing their own competencies.
