On April 29, the second day of the information dissemination event “Grant Opportunities from the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and support tools within the Horizon Europe Programme”, organised by the NRFU team, took place in Poltava. On this day, participants received information on the legal aspects of the selecting calls process and the providing of grant support of the NRFU, as well as on financial awareness and the culture of preparing the financial and economic sections of grant applications and project budgets under the NRFU.

In addition, within the context of the EU 9th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe, specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, spoke about the financial aspects of participation. Among other topics covered during the event was grant funding for the Horizon Europe work programmes 2026. In particular opportunities were presented to the participants, such as Cluster 1 Health, and the EU Mission Cancer, Cluster 4 Digital, Industry and Space, and the EU Mission Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, as well as Cluster 5 Climate, Energy and Mobility, and the EU Missions Restore Our Ocean and Waters, and Adaptation to Climate Change.

Following a productive Q&A session, Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, summed up the event. The head of the Office thanked the participants who attended the event in person and joined online, noting their strong interest in additional funding for science, research and innovation from both the government and the EU. He emphasised that participation in information events organised by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine helps to raise awareness among Ukrainian scientists and innovators regarding these opportunities, which in turn leads to more active participation by potential applicants aiming to submit applications for grants from the NRFU and the Horizon Europe Programme.

A total of 200 participants attended the event on the second day online and offline. The two-day event brought together representatives from higher education institutions, research organisations, small and medium-sized enterprises, public authorities and local government bodies, non-governmental organisations, and everyone interested in grant opportunities from the state and the European Union.
