The team of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine introduces the academic and research communities in the Odesa region to government grant opportunities and European Union’s support instruments (Day I)
On July 9-10, the team of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine holds a two-day information dissemination event “Grant opportunities from the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and support instruments under the Horizon Europe programme” in Odesa. Communities of scientists, researchers and innovators from both the Odesa region and the wider Southern region, as well as other regions of Ukraine, interested in grant-related activities, were invited to participate.
On 9 July, the event was opened by Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, and Yehor Pyvovarov, an expert on science and innovation policy at the EU Delegation to Ukraine. They welcomed the participants, encouraged them not to be afraid to take part in calls, and wished them success in this way. Daria Dzhugan, Director of the Department of Digital Development, Information Policy and Tourism at the Odesa Regional State Administration, also delivered a welcoming speech. It should be noted that holding the event in Odesa was made possible precisely thanks to the support and comprehensive assistance of the Odesa Regional State Administration.
The working part of the first day of the event was full of presentations. Participants received detailed information about the activities and structure of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, its calls and the organisational support provided throughout the process, from application to reporting.
In addition, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe was presented, along with the key parts of the New European Bauhaus Initiative, calls under the Cluster 1 Health and the EU Mission Cancer for 2026, as well as grant opportunities for businesses within the Programme.
A separate presentation was given about Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine as the European Commission’s project, its three-year activities based on the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, and the opportunities available to Ukrainian researchers under the Horizon Europe Programme. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the event programme also included a practical component: participants attended a workshop on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal.
At the end of the information session, a traditional Q&A Session took place, during which participants were able to ask questions to the speakers and talk directly to experts from the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
