On August 19, Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, held an information event “Specific aspects of participation in the Horizon Europe Programme” in Kyiv. This is the prefinal event of this format organised by the Office’s team as a part of its activities for Ukrainian scientists, researchers and innovators interested in EU grant opportunities – representatives of higher education institutions, academic institutions, business, government bodies, civil society organisations and others.

The event was opened by Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU. In his welcome speech, the Head of the Office presented statistics on Ukraine’s participation in Horizon Europe, including the number of stakeholders and organisations-participants, and coordinators with the most funding under the Programme. In addition, he informed those present about the services provided by the Office’s employees to potential applicants.

During the working session, participants learned about:

  • the EU Funding and Tenders Portal as a tool for selecting calls, finding partners, registering organisations to participate in the Programme, and more;
  • new opportunities for Ukrainian participants under the European Defence Fund;
  • the involvement of the Joint Research Centre in Horizon Europe projects;
  • the Online Manual as a practical resource for getting answers during the preparation, implementation and managing Horizon Europe projects;
  • grant opportunities for business under the Programme;
  • the specifics and funding models of Horizon Europe projects;
  • the opportunities under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.

At the end of the event, the question-and-answer session proved to be exceptionally active, full of questions, comments and expressions of gratitude to the Office’s speakers from the participants. The event was held in a hybrid format, which made it possible to engage as many potential applicants as possible. In total, around 250 stakeholders attended in person or joined online.
