The second joint working meeting was held with representatives of Ukraine to the committees responsible for monitoring the implementation of Horizon Europe
On July 30, Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU held a joint online working meeting with representatives of Ukraine to the committees responsible for monitoring the implementation of the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe. The purpose of the event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, was to exchange experience between the members of the Programme committees.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Denys Kurbatov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. He emphasized that the Ministry is determined to do everything it can to integrate Ukraine into the European research area. In particular, this includes the opening of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine as a Coordination Center, as well as a network of National contact points of the Programme. In addition, Denys Kurbatov emphasized that representatives of the Programme committees are an important link that connects Ukrainian researchers and potential participants of the Programme with the European Commission to make integration more effective.
Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, who is also a representative of the European Research Council and Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area Programme committees, welcomed the participants. She noted that this was the second joint meeting of representatives of all committees with the Office and the Ministry. The Head of the NRFU noted that a whole system has already been created to provide maximum support and help Ukraine’s voice be heard at the relevant meetings of the Programme committees organized by the EC.
Director General of the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Hryhorii Mozolevych spoke about the Ministry’s support for the activities of representatives of the Programme committees. For his part, Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU highlighted the current state of activity of Ukrainian participants in the Programme in terms of the number of applicants and the amount of funding received.
Representatives of the committees actively exchanged their experience of participating in the meetings of the Programme committees, expressed their views, wishes and suggestions for improving interaction and effective communication between members of individual committees and potential participants of the Programme, as well as with all parties in general, in order to adequately represent Ukraine in the European arena.
It should be noted that Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine constantly works with representatives of the Programme committees. On February 9, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine hosted the first communication meeting on the participation of Ukrainian representatives in events organized within the EU research and innovation instruments. In addition, in February and March, the Office held online meetings with representatives of each committee separately.
