Learning across the borders: visiting of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU to the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (Day I)
On December 16-17, the team of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine paid a working visit to Vienna, Austria. In particular, the Ukrainian delegation visited the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), which is the National Contact Point for the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, to learn and exchange experience with international colleagues.
Thus, on December 16, representatives of the Office held a working meeting with representatives of the Austrian NPC. Igor Taranov, Head of the Department Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, presented the work of HEOinUA, which is the Coordination Center of Horizon Europe and has been functioning for over a year on the basis of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. The Head of the Office also spoke about the work of the established Ukrainian network of National Contact Points. Among other things, Mr. Taranov provided statistical data on the participation of Ukrainian organisations in the Horizon Europe Programme, comparing it to the previous Horizon 2020.
The Austrian side was represented by Margit Noll, Head of Department, European & International Programmes, FFG; Lil Reif, NCP for ERC, MSCA and WIDERA, European and International Programmes, FFG; Susanne Meissner-Dragosits, NCP for Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment (including related partnerships); Thomas Leithner, Civil security and the European Defense Fund, and Manfred Halver, specialist in Research Infrastructures, and Digital, Industry and Space. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research of the Republic of Austria: Marlene Schoder-Kienbeck, The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research of the Republic of Austria (BMBWF), Unit V/5 EU and OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Research Policy, and Martina Hartl, BMBWF, Austrian Delegate for MSCA, International Cooperation.
The parties discussed the specifics of the work of both organisations, the development of research and innovation in Ukraine and Austria, the activities of National Contact Points, their capabilities and cooperation with relevant ministries and partner organisations within the EU. In addition, the peculiarities of the functioning of the Liaison Office Ukraine in Brussels, headed by Mykhailo Hrebenyuk, Mykhailo Hrebeniuk, and the Austrian Liaison Office in Brussels, were presented by Deputy Head Elisabeth Hajicek.
