On 18 December, the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas hosted a webinar on Legal and Financial Aspects of the Horizon Europe Programme. The event was organised by the European Research Council and Legal and Financial Aspects NSPs that are functioning on the base of the university. Specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU joined the event.

Natalia Didenko, Deputy Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine revealed to the audience one of the important issues facing those wishing to participate in the Programme – the peculiarities of searching for and creating consortia, legal aspects of their formation and interaction between participants. Among other things, the participants were provided with practical recommendations on reporting in accordance with legal requirements, emphasised the definition of a consortium, provided information on the minimum criteria for its composition, participants and distribution of roles, and stressed the need to sign a consortium agreement.

Among the speakers of the webinar were:

– Andrzej Maczkowiak, Chief Operating Officer of the National Centre for Research and Development of Poland (Department for Coordination and Interaction with Horizontal Structures);

– Karina Shakhbazyan, Head of the NCP in Legal and Financial Issues, NCP in the European Research Council, Scientific Secretary of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;

– Tetiana Popova, Head of the Project Coordination Department of the CMC IFNTUOG, Head of the National Contact Point for the European Research Council, NCP for Legal and Financial Aspects.

In general, the event was aimed at introducing the key legal and financial aspects of implementing projects under the Horizon Europe Programme, informing participants about the terms of participation in the ERC component. In addition, the peculiarities of signing grant agreements and issues related to financing were highlighted. The webinar participants received practical recommendations on ensuring compliance with legal requirements and effective financial management in international research initiatives, namely Horizon Europe.
