On February 26, Seeds of Bravery held a workshop dedicated to the evolution of Ukraine’s startup ecosystem: Market Discovery Ukraine Workshop. Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, took part in the event as one of the leading speakers.

The Head of the Office presented the participation of Ukrainian startups in the Horizon Europe Programme and its implications for the domestic startup ecosystem. Igor Taranov noted that facilitating the participation of startups in the Programme, in turn, stimulates the innovation process in Ukraine, despite the ongoing war in the country. In particular, the results of Ukrainian participants in the calls of the European Innovation Council, which is one of the key instruments for the development of the EU innovation ecosystem, were presented.

In addition, the Head of the Office emphasised the significant increase in funding for startups created in Ukraine with the support of the Programme. Also, the actual calls and opportunities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology for innovative enterprises and the recovery of Ukraine were presented.

The workshop focused on the current opportunities, key resources and success stories that shape the country’s entrepreneurial landscape. Moreover, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the development of Ukraine’s startup ecosystem after 2022, the role of universities and researchers in it, the experience of cooperation with the EU, as well as tendencies, funding and investment opportunities, etc.

Among the other speakers who presented changes in the domestic startup scene after 2022, the development of the startup ecosystem, and how universities and researchers shape it were Ihor Markevych, EIT Community RIS Hub Ukraine Officer, Ganna Tolstanova, Vice-Rector for Research, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and many others.

The event was organised by CyberInnovate, Vacuum Deep Tech Acceleration, and YEP Accelerator as part of the Seeds of Bravery project.
