A workshop on opportunities for developing a scientific career within the Horizon Europe ERC was held
On March 6, a workshop for HEOinUA and Ukrainian research community on European Research Council (ERC) support measures was held. The team of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU visited the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine to participate in the event. The event was also attended by the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová.
The Ambassador congratulated the team members of the Office and emphasised the great importance of their activities for the development of the Ukrainian research and innovation area. It is important to mention that Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine consists of only 14 people who are fully responsible for awareness of the Horizon Europe Programme among Ukrainian scientists and researchers within the calls in certain Pillars, Clusters, Components, Missions and Partnerships. For example, in Poland, the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) has established a separate Office for ERC grant support, and a network of NPCs has been launched at the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR). It should be noted that the PAN based ERC Office is fully funded by the State Budget of the Republic of Poland.
The workshop was organised in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kyiv. Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, welcomed the participants. The participants were also greeted by Henrik Huitfeldt, the Head of Operations Section II at EU Delegation to Ukraine, and Mateusz Białaś, the Director of the Polish Academy of Sciences Representative Office in Kyiv. Yehor Pyvovarov, Policy Officer at the Operations Division II of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, moderated the event.
The informative part of the event was led by Bogna Hryniszyn, the Director of the Excellence in Science Department, the Polish Academy of Sciences, who is the Project Manager of the PASIFIC Fellowship Programme. Due to her thorough presentation, the participants received information and discussed such topics as ERC grants and application preparation for ERC calls. The event was followed by a Q&A session, during which Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine members had the opportunity to raise questions to better understand the specifics of the calls and aspects of preparing project proposals.
The National Research Foundation of Ukraine expresses its sincere appreciation for the high level of organisation and implementation of the workshop both for the employees of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine and for all the interested stakeholders!
