Capacity building of innovation ecosystem in Ukraine discussed at the workshop with Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU
On June 5, Online Workshop: Capacity Building for Ecosystem Builders in Ukraine was held. Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, took part in the event as one of the leading speakers.
The Head of the Office presented funding opportunities from the European Union under the Research and Innovation Programme Horizon Europe. Among other things, Igor Taranov spoke about the new HE work programme for 2025. He focused on the European Innovation Ecosystems of Pillar III: Innovative Europe and the calls announced in 2025 under this component.
Among other speakers was Professor Marcos Antonio Nogieira, President of the Congress of European Emerging Regions (CoEER), who presented: Europe as One Power: Funding Ecosystem Builders for a Stronger, United Innovation Space. Also, Ihor Markevych, Head of EIT Community Hub in Ukraine, NCP for EIT and RIS, informed the participants on how Ukrainian ecosystem builders can leverage EIT programmes.
In addition, an interactive session was held by Odysseas Spyroglou, a European innovation policy expert and ecosystem strategist, International Development Ireland (IDI). Participants discussed and jointly identified gaps, the most effective financial instruments to address current challenges, and proposed possible solutions and recommendations.
The workshop was designed for ecosystem builders, part of an incubator or accelerators, a BSOs, development agencies, innovation intermediaries, or dynamic startups. This was the opportunity to:
- Influence future service delivery in Ukraine’s innovation landscape
- Discover new tools, frameworks, and funding avenues
- Connect with leading experts and fellow ecosystem champions
- Co-create tangible solutions to real-world challenges.
The event was organised under the support of TechUkraine and IDI within the framework of the Horizon Europe ExcellEnt project, funded by the EU, aimed at strengthening entrepreneurial practices and establishing bridges between EU entrepreneurial ecosystems.
