On November 20, the international scientific and practical conference “Strategies for the development of the agrarian sector of the economy until 2030: tasks of agro-economic science” was held in Kyiv. The event was held as part of the annual meeting of the NGO “All-Ukrainian Congress of Agricultural Economists. Representatives of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, who are guides to the opportunities provided by the EU in the Horizon Europe Programme, took part in the event.

Thus, Nataliia Didenko, PhD in agricultural sciences, senior researcher, deputy head of the Office provided general information and advised those present about the possibilities of the Programme for researchers and innovators in the agricultural sector.

The conference consisted of several panel discussions. Among the discussed topics – is the development of the domestic agricultural sector based on science against the background of war and European integration.

In addition, the participants were asked to consider the issue of climate-oriented transformation of the agricultural sector, support for the development of the agro-food sector at the international level, the current state of the agricultural sectors of Ukraine in the context of European integration, the competitiveness of the domestic agricultural sector on the international arena, and many others.

Humanitarian demining of agricultural land, ensuring food security of the state and post-war restoration of the agricultural sector of Ukraine have also become relevant in today’s conditions.

In the second part of the conference, there were meetings of sections on the implementation of the state policy strategy for the development of agriculture in the conditions of Eurointegration, food security, sustainability of agriculture in the conditions of climate change, green and energy transitions, etc.

All topics and issues raised during the event coincide with the priorities of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe, laid down in the Strategic Plan of the European Union. Therefore, the participation of representatives of the agricultural sector in the Programme is not only an opportunity to receive additional funding, but also an important step for the integration of Ukraine into the European research space.

Please note that the 19th meeting of the All-Ukrainian Congress was an important event, because the participants had the opportunity to participate not only online, but also to visit in person for the first time since 2019. The organizers were the National Scientific Center Institute of Agrarian Economics, the NGO All-Ukrainian Congress of Agricultural Economists and Kyiv Agrarian University.

Among the speakers: representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, the National Agrarian Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, employees of scientific institutions and institutions of higher education, business, public organisations, international projects – representatives of the field of agriculture.
