On June 5, an information event: Specifics of Preparing Applications for the Horizon Europe Civil Security for Society Calls 2026, organised by the National Contact Points for Cluster 3, took place. Representatives of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, took part in the event.

In particular, Olga Kurykina, Leading Officer of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, presented the specifics of Ukrainian organisations’ participation in Horizon Europe calls under the Civil Security for Society in 2024-2025. She also told the participants about current opportunities under the Programme, statistics on the participation of Ukrainian organisations in Cluster 3 calls, the results of Ukrainian institutions’ involvement in international consortia, and examples of successful projects.

The rest of the event’s programme focused on the practical aspects of participating in calls. Oleksii Serdyuk, the National Contact Point on Civil Security for Society, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, outlined the specifics of preparing applications for Horizon Europe calls in the relevant area for 2026. For his part, Oleksandr Chemerys, NCP on Civil Security for Society, G.E. Pukhov Institute for Modelling in Energy Engineering National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, highlighted the role of the coordinator in Horizon Europe projects and shared practical recommendations of coordination with the international consortium.

The event concluded with a Q&A session. Participants showed great interest in opportunities for finding international partners to build consortia, the use of databases and networks to establish cooperation, the specifics of Ukrainian organisations’ participation in Cluster 3 calls, as well as the particularities of involving security and defence sector bodies and law enforcement agencies in projects.

The event served as an important platform for discussing the prospects for Ukrainian organisations’ participation in Horizon Europe Cluster 3 projects and for strengthening their integration into the European Research Area.

On the same day, Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine employees held an online meeting with representatives of the Swedish healthcare and life sciences organisation “Swecare Foundation”. As part of the project “Swedish Support for the Sustainable Development of the Healthcare System in Ukraine”, the organisation is seeking opportunities for additional funding and sees great potential in the Horizon Europe Programme.

The enquirers were interested in the Programme’s opportunities that would align with their organisation’s areas of activity. Experts of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, in particular Leading Officer Tayisiya Symochko, provided detailed information on calls under the Cluster 1 Health and the EU Mission Cancer, including how to search for them effectively, how to build a consortium, who can be part of it, and how to allocate roles among partners, and other useful information.

Following the online meeting, the parties agreed to continue their cooperation and to hold further consultations at the request of the “Swecare Foundation”.
