On 24 November, the first joint online meeting dedicated to the MSCA-GLOPOL CMPG project took place. The focus was on establishing future cooperation and promoting new opportunities under the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Actions (MSCA) among Ukrainian institutions. Employees of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine (HEOinUA) — part of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) — participated in the meeting.

Dalibor P. Drljača, Regional Liaison Officer for the Eastern Partnership countries and the Western Balkans, presented the project’s key features, objectives, and tasks. He also outlined the structure of the CMPG’s work, its role in implementing the initiative, and a plan of measures for its promotion. Participants received detailed information about the MSCA-GLOPOL initiative, which aims to strengthen international cooperation and increase global visibility within MSCA.

Among other topics, the participants discussed how to jointly inform universities, research institutions, and organizations about the benefits of MSCA calls. During the meeting, they agreed on a joint action plan to support Ukrainian researchers’ participation in upcoming calls.

Ihor Taranov, Head of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, stressed that this initiative will provide substantial support and have a significant impact on strengthening Ukraine’s scientific potential, ensuring its sustainable development even under wartime conditions. According to him, the joint actions will not only help preserve existing research capacities but also open up new opportunities for Ukrainian scientists. Such collaboration holds strategic importance for Ukraine, as it bolsters integration into the European Research Area.

The participants agreed to maintain close cooperation under the project in the near future. Plans were discussed for a series of training events, informational sessions and consultations on preparing project proposals. They also outlined potential joint initiatives to enhance the capacity of Ukrainian researchers. It is expected that the agreed measures will significantly increase Ukraine’s participation in MSCA-GLOPOL projects in 2026.

MSCA Global Cooperation: Policy Enhancement and Strategic Promotion (MSCA-GLOPOL) is a three-year project funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe. Its goal is to strengthen international research cooperation and promote inclusive participation in MSCA calls. Ukraine is among the 26 global regions participating in the project.
