Horizon Europe is a window to new innovative opportunities for domestic participants: a speech at the III International Conference “Open Science and Innovation in Ukraine 2024”
On October 24-25, the III International Conference “Open Science and Innovation in Ukraine 2024” was held as part of the International Open Access Week 2024. The event was organised by the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine in cooperation with TIB – Leibniz Information Center for Science and Technology of the University Library, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU delivered a speech on the second day, October 25.
The Head of the Office presented the activities of the department, which has just turned one year old, and the importance of its functioning in Ukraine, as well as future opportunities for Ukrainian participants, in particular open calls within the Horizon Europe Programme. The report was presented in the context of the discussion panel “Innovations in Ukraine: Opening New Horizons”, where among other topics discussed were the activities of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the field of innovation, EIT opportunities for Ukrainian scientists and innovators, the role of the fund for innovation development in the educational community.
The aim of the international online forum is to discuss the practical aspects of implementing the principles of open science and innovation in Ukraine, find ways to solve the urgent problems of uninterrupted access to research infrastructure, free access to research results, the need to reform the research evaluation system, and accelerate the integration of Ukrainian science into the European research area by harmonizing EU open science policies and data exchange formats.
The event is an open platform for the exchange of experience, ideas and knowledge, during which participants discuss a wide range of issues – from the formulation and implementation of policies, infrastructure and services for the practical implementation of open science and innovation to the creation and support of the human factor to ensure their long-term development.
The event is organised for scientists, heads and employees of scientific institutions, managers and administrators of institutional repositories, managers and executors of research works, specialists of research offices of higher education institutions, specialists in the field of IT technologies, publishers of scientific journals, developers of scientific information platforms and systems, graduate students and young scientists, project managers, business leaders, startup co-organisers, members of library associations, and scientists working on artificial intelligence-related research.
