On August 13, representatives of the Estonian Research Council (ITAg), Horizon Europe NCPs held an online meeting with the specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU to establish close cooperation and exchange of experience.

Anu Noorma, Director General of the ITAg, Maarja Adojaan, Head of International Research Cooperation Department, NCP Coordinator, and Kristin Kraav, Deputy Head of International Research Cooperation Department, NCP representative for the European Research Council, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, and WIDERA, spoke about the principles of work and presented their achievements.

During the meeting, the participants of both sides got acquainted. Colleagues from the Estonian Research Council presented information on the structure of the institution, its capabilities, and work within international projects that allow attracting additional research funds to Estonia, including Horizon Europe, Baltic & Nordic, and bilateral cooperation with Japan, France and Taiwan.

In addition, they provided statistics on participation and comparative indicators for Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. Among other things, the meeting focused on the Research Infrastructure Roadmap that is being presented in 2024.

The opportunities to support Ukrainian scientists within MSCA4Ukraine where Estonian Research Council is involved in were also highlighted. This refers to one of the Council’s fundings – Support for Ukrainian Researchers.

For its part, the Office, as a successful project funded by the EC under Horizon Europe, shared information about its activities and achievements since its launch. The parties discussed further cooperation and the possibility of submitting successful projects within Horizon Europe.

On July 4, Director General of the Estonian Research Council Anu Noorma paid a working visit to Ukraine and visited the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
