On May 6, Ross Bull, manager of the EU-funded project Institutional and Policy Reform of Smallholder Agriculture (IPRSA), Smallholder Innovation and Rural Development, visited the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU. The foreign guest is managing the project to support micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises in the agricultural sector and introduce innovations in farms, including in Ukraine. The manager of IPRSA considers participation in the Horizon Europe Programme to have great potential for Ukrainian farmers, so he has made a working visit to the Office to establish collaboration.

The parties discussed the possibilities of future collaboration and holding certain events for potential stakeholders. In addition, Ross Bull was very interested in the information on the implementation of the previous EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020 by Ukrainian participants within the consortium of the SKIN Project. The focus was on the use of the best practices in the short food supply chain sector. Over the implementation of the project, 100 such practices were identified from partner countries, in particular from Zakarpattia region, Ukraine.

The IPRSA aims to increase the capacity of the agricultural sector at the national and community levels. In particular, the project aims to strengthen the capacity of central and regional governments to support sustainable private sector development in rural areas, especially in agriculture. The project’s task is to help create a resilient, more inclusive, sustainable and competitive growth-oriented agricultural sector in Ukraine that will contribute to: improving the livelihoods of small farmers and rural incomes, promoting the use of the best agricultural practices and environmental respect, developing investment potential, supporting ongoing agricultural reforms and rural development.
