IT Arena Tech Conference 2024: Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine is a strategic element of EU support for the restoration of research initiatives in Ukraine
On September 27, the 11th 3-day IT Arena Tech Conference 2024 launched in Lviv. On this occasion, the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova delivered the opening speech via a video message. In her speech, the representative of the European Commission emphasized the work of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU as a strategic element of EU support for the restoration of research initiatives in Ukraine.
The European Commissioner emphasized the crucial importance of the Ukrainian Office, which she had the honor of inaugurating in December 2023 at the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. Iliana Ivanova emphasized that the work of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, which aims to support the participation of Ukrainian researchers and innovators in Horizon Europe Programme, is a testament to the continued contribution of the Ukrainian people to research and innovation and called on the community to seek assistance from its experts to build a stronger Europe together.
Among other things, the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth expressed the European Union’s exceptional support for Ukraine, its researchers and innovators, whose work has suffered catastrophic damage and irreversible losses due to Russia’s military aggression. In particular, she discussed the possibility of Ukrainian researchers participating on equal rights with EU member states in grant programmes and large joint projects of the European Union.
