On November 17-19, 2025, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University is holding the KNU Marathon «United by Science». The annual event is timed to the Day of Science in the Name of Peace and Development with the aim of stimulating interdisciplinary scientific cooperation within the university to actualize and intensify grant activities at KNU, in particular, within the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe. On the first day of the event, November 17, Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, had a speech.

The Head of the Office presented to the participants the results of the work of the Department “Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine” for the entire time of its operation as a successfully implemented project of the Horizon Europe Programme. Igor Taranov’s speech aroused interest among those present, who asked many questions.

In addition, 6 projects within the framework of the Programme, which are successfully implemented by the university as part of international consortia, were presented to those present. The event was moderated by Hanna Tolstanova, vice-rector for scientific work of KNU.

On the second and third day of the event, November 18-19, the representatives of the national contact points of the Programme, Iryna Shteimiller, NCP of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, and Karina Shahbazyan, NCP of Legal and financial aspects and European Research Council are scheduled to speak.

In general, the Marathon is called:

  • to develop a platform for familiarization/acquaintance of scientific and scientific-pedagogical employees, including young scientists, with scientific research of KNU in thematic areas;
  • promote the exchange of best practices and the dissemination of scientific results;
  • inform about European Union grant instruments, including the Horizon Europe, the COST association, etc.
