Kyiv Region Community Forum and events of the NCPs: Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU continues to inform society about Horizon Europe
Specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, are regularly engaged in various events to inform society about opportunities for Ukrainian researchers and innovators within the EU Horizon Europe Programme. Thus, on April 30, a representative of the Office took part in the Kyiv Region Community Forum 2025. The event brought together communities, entrepreneurs, international partners, representatives of the government and the expert community around a common goal: to join efforts and create conditions for sustainable development of the region and attract investment in the current situation.
Maksym Kolisnyk, Leading Officer of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, presented the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe and the opportunities that are open to potential participants among the communities of the Kyiv region within the framework of the Programme. The speaker also mentioned some of the most active participants in the Programme from Kyiv region – the Department of Economics of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the Kyiv Regional Council. In addition, the speech of the Office’s representative aroused great interest not only among the domestic participants of the event, but also among foreign partners. This was evidenced by the intensive communication during the networking, a large number of questions and expressions of wish for further cooperation and additional consultations.
The event has become a platform for dialogue between communities, entrepreneurs, government agencies and international organisations on ways to restore and develop the region in the long term. The forum was aimed at discussing real solutions, sharing successful practices and unlocking the investment potential of Kyiv region communities. The Forum was organised by the Kyiv Regional Development Agency in partnership with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation, Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, Ukraine Economic Resilience Programme and with the assistance of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
On the same day, April 30, representatives of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine joined the Workshop: Strategies and Tools for Forming International Consortia for Horizon Europe Projects. The event was organised by the Programme’s National Contact Point for the Digital, Industry and Space, which functions on the basis of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Igor Taranov, Head of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, and Maksym Kolisnyk, Leading Officer, together with representatives of the Enterprise Europe Network Ukraine, international experts from Poland, Spain and France, spoke about EU scientific opportunities for Ukraine, shared their experience in coordinating the Programme’s projects and effective tools for finding partners.
In particular, the Leading Officer of the Department, whose area of responsibility includes, among other things, Cluster 4: Digitalisation, Industry, Space of the Programme, presented a report on the best practices of forming international consortia in Horizon Europe. The speaker presented the specifics and conditions of participation in the Programme, the main programme documents and the publication of calls for proposals in the context of the Cluster 4 in 2025. The Office’s expert also covered in detail the process of creating project teams, current strategies and tools for finding partners.
Moreover, the day before, on April 29, a Webinar Building Bridges: Strategies for Finding Partners for the Horizon Europe Programme was held jointly by the National Contact Points of the Programme in the areas of Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area and Research Infrastructures. Igor Taranov, Head of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, opened the event with a welcoming speech, noting the crucial role of consortium formation for potential participants of Horizon Europe. During the event, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the strategies for finding partners under the Programme, as well as how to work with the EU Funding & Tenders Portal, an EU tool for finding partners, calls, etc.
Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, continues to work under any circumstances and raise awareness of Ukrainian stakeholders about the opportunities and aspects of participation in the Horizon Europe Programme, which contributes to an increase in the number of winning project applications. After all, successful participation in EU grant programmes, in turn, strengthens Ukraine’s position in the international arena, increases its competitiveness and promotes integration into the European Research Area.
