Polish-Ukrainian workshop on the exchange of experience between the National Contact Points for the ‘Horizon Europe’ programme took place
On July 22, 2026, a joint Polish-Ukrainian workshop, with the participation of representatives of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, dedicated to studying system of National Contact Points (NCPs) of Poland and exchanging best practices within the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe, was held at the National Centre for Research and Development (Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju, NCBR) in Warsaw (Poland). The meeting became an important step towards deepening bilateral cooperation and integrating the Ukrainian research and innovation ecosystem into the European Research Area.
Piotr Świerczyński, director of the NCP Office in Poland, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He provided the Ukrainian delegation with a detailed overview of the architecture of the Polish NCP system and presented a general overview of the services and tools that Polish Contact Points offer to the Horizon Europe applicants.
Igor Taranov, head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, spoke on behalf of Ukrainian part. He presented the Office’s current activities, its key achievements and strategic objectives regarding support for Ukrainian researchers and innovators in today’s challenging circumstances.
The workshop programme included a series of important specialised sessions.
Piotr Olszowski, an expert at of the European Innovation Council (EIC) National Contact Point, shared effective tools for supporting applicants seeking funding for breakthrough innovations.
Marta Muter, head of Polish ERC National Contact Point Section, presented successful experience of Poland in Widening instruments and discussed effective methods for working with European Research Council (ERC) grants.
Katarzyna Kubica-Oroń, senior operations specialist, NCBR, member of the ERC Programme Committee, also presented Poland’s successful experience with ERC grants.
For her part, Barbara Kowalczyk, an expert of Polish NCP, presented tools and methods for analysing the participation of Polish organisations in the Programme, which are extremely useful for establishing a high-quality monitoring system in Ukraine.
The event closed with a summary of the meeting, during which participants emphasised the importance of further cooperation.
Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, expresses its sincere gratitude to the Polish colleagues from the NCBR for their hospitality and willingness to share their long-standing successful experience. The knowledge gained and practical case studies will be implemented into the Office’s work to provide even more effective support to Ukrainian participants in the Horizon Europe Programme.
