Possibilities of financing cooperation between science and business in the field of research and innovation: round table with the participation of the NRFU representatives
On November 27, representatives of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, at the invitation of Borys Burkinsky, Director of the Institute for Market and Economic and Environmental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, took part in the round table discussion “European Innovation Council and European Innovation Systems: Opportunities for Financing Cooperation between Science and Business in Research and Innovation”. The purpose of the event was to discuss steps towards a more complete use of EU funding instruments for the development of research and innovation by the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the business sector.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhii Pyrozhkov, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Nina Khumarova and Policy Specialist of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Yegor Pyvovarov, who noted that the development of the NPC network is an important mechanism, and Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU is the main EU instrument in raising awareness and involvement of Ukrainian participants in the Horizon Europe Programme. Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the NRFU, also joined the greetings of the participants.
Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, presented the successful implementation of the project under the Horizon Europe – the work of the Ukrainian Office within the session on the challenges of EU-Ukraine cooperation and science and business cooperation in research and innovation in the context of Ukraine’s European integration. For his part, Leading Officer of the Department Maksym Kolisnyk spoke about the support of researchers and innovators in the Programme within the session on the possibilities of financing cooperation between science and business in the field of research and innovation, in particular in Horizon Europe.
Other speakers included Olena Makarenko, Head of the Expert Group on Strategizing and Integration into the European Research Area of the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oleh Rubel, Head of the Department for Integration of Science, Education and Business of the Institute of Market and Economic and Environmental Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Maryna Gorokhovatska, representative of Ukraine in the Research Infrastructures Programme Committee, Tetyana Kotenko, entrepreneur, public figure, expert in fundraising and grant writing, and Professor of the Department of Labor Economics and Management at the Institute of Economics and Management of the National University of Food Technologies Igor Galitsa.
The event was organised by the Horizon Europe National Contact Point in the area of European Innovation Council and European Innovation Ecosystems under the agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Institute of Market and Economic and Environmental Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on the implementation of the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe and the European Atomic Energy Community Research and Training Programme (2021-2025).
