Representatives of the NRFU took part in a training on international support for the conservation and development of plant genetic resources of Ukraine
On April 16-18, the training: International Support for the Conservation and Development of Plant Genetic Resources – Opportunities for Ukraine was held in Kyiv. The event was organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) for representatives of 13 institutes of the National Agrarian Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which are members of the Coordination Committee for the Implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture and Genetic Resources of Ukraine. Members of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, as representatives of the programmes that provide grant support for scientific or related activities, took part in the event as speakers.
On the third day of the event, on April 18, which was dedicated to the international partnership and experience of grant raising in Ukraine, Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, and Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, made presentations. In her report, the Executive Director of the NRFU informed about the types of grant support provided by the Foundation, the winners of NRFU calls, in particular in the area of natural sciences, engineering and mathematics, biology, medicine and agriculture, and the projects they were involved in.
For his part, Igor Taranov presented the specifics of the work of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, which is the Coordination Centre of the Horizon Europe Programme, introduced the Office’s specialists in their areas of responsibility, the challenges and tasks that employees faced during their work, as well as the opportunities of the Programme for potential applicants in the agricultural sector. Thus, the Head of the Office spoke about the calls open for submissions and forthcoming.
The training was organised with the support of the EU Project, the beneficiary of which is the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. Its activities are aimed at conserving and developing plant genetic resources of Ukraine. The event was held in a hybrid format, which made it possible to attract as many participants as possible.
