The team of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU held a training event in Pereiaslav
Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU continues to inform the public about the opportunities of the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe for domestic researchers and innovators, as well as to support the work of the National Contact Points of the Programme. On December 2, HEOinUA specialists visited the city of Pereiaslav in Kyiv region, in particular the Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav, and held a training event on “Peculiarities of participation of Ukrainian researchers in the Horizon Europe calls”.
Vitalii Kotsur, Rector of the Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav, opened the event with a welcoming speech. Hryhoriy Mozolevych, Director General of the Directorate for Science Development at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and Zhanna Osypenko, Deputy Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, also joined in the greetings. For her part, Olga Polotska, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Executive Director of the NRFU, also welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of participating in events organised by Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine in different cities to reach as many people as possible who are interested in participating in the Programme.
The first working part was opened by Lyudmyla Lisova, PhD in Engineering, Leading Officer of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, who presented general information about the Programme and statistics on the participation of Ukrainians in it. The leading officers of the Office, PhD in Law Oleksandr Moiseiev and PhD in Law Nadiia Naumova, spoke directly about the specifics of participation in the Programme, including legal aspects and financial issues.
Igor Taranov, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, presented success stories in the Programme, namely the HEOinUA project-101132682. This project is actually Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, which has been successfully implemented for over a year on the basis of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
The knowledge provided at the events organised by Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine for interested parties is not only theoretical: participants also gain practical skills in working with EU instruments to participate in EU support programmes. Thus, Nataliia Didenko, PhD in Agriculture, Senior Researcher, Deputy Head of the Office, began the second working part with a master class on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal.
The issue of grant opportunities for business within the Horizon Europe Programme was highlighted separately. Maksym Kolisnyk, PhD in Public Administration, Associate Professor, Leading Officer of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, spoke about this. In addition, the opportunities for Ukrainian researchers in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions were presented by Yuliia Reminska, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Leading Officer.
Among the invited speakers who joined the event was Oleh Bondarenko, Deputy Head of the National Ecological Center of Ukraine, who spoke about his experience of participating in Horizon Europe Programme, within which the Ecological Center is implementing 5 projects. Since the Horizon Europe National Contact Point in the field of activity “New European Bauhaus Initiative” operates on the basis of Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav, where the training event took place, its Head, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Olesia Skliarenko, spoke about the work of this NPC.
Traditionally, the event ended with a Q&A session and networking, during which participants had the opportunity to ask questions, communicate with the Office’s specialists responsible for certain areas of the Programme, and establish useful contacts. Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, summarised the results of the event by calling for active participation in the Programme calls.
In total, the event was attended by more than 290 participants who attended in person and joined online. Among the participants were representatives of Nizhyn Gogol State University, Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Sumy State University, Izmail State Humanitarian University, Donbas State Pedagogical University, and other higher education institutions, research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, state and local governments, and NGOs.
