AI and its role in the formation of project proposals within the programmes announced by EC
Generative Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT are having a significant impact on various fields of activity, including scientific research. While these powerful tools can be useful for certain tasks, they also present a number of challenges and limitations that users should be aware of.
The European Commission, along with the countries and stakeholders represented in the ERA Forum, decided to jointly develop a set of recommendations that could provide simple and actionable guidance to the European research community to foster the adoption of the technology in a responsible manner.
The guidelines launched in March 2024 today are the result of this joint effort. They aim to consolidate different ideas and establish directions that can reassure those who use generative AI in the scientific domain.
These guidelines will be updated regularly to keep pace with the very fast technological development. The research community is encouraged to contribute their views and ideas on how to enhance future versions.
On the portal, you can read the document (Living guidelines on the responsible use of generative AI in research) and provide feedback. Also, find out more information about the use of AI in science (AI in Science).
