Opportunities for Ukrainians within the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership
Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine reminds that since 2024, Ukraine has joined the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (hereinafter, the Partnership) with the aim of strengthening international and cross-border cooperation in the field of sustainable blue economy, taking into account the interconnectedness of the World Ocean and the shared challenges faced by coastal and marine ecosystems.
Guided by the globalisation principle “think globally – act locally”, the Partnership promotes enhanced international and regional connectivity, and its activities are closely aligned with EU programmes and global policy agendas, as reflected in its strategy for international cooperation and expansion. The international dimension of the Partnership is based on the principle of “leaving no one behind” and encourages the participation of countries sharing marine basins, in particular EU neighbouring countries, ensuring a level playing field for fair cooperation, increased global resilience and mutual relevance.
The Partnership brings together 30 countries and 74 partners, including representatives of the European Commission, and plans to invest nearly EUR 450 million over a period of seven years.
The Partnership supports the transition towards a climate-neutral, sustainable, productive and competitive blue economy. It aims to restore ocean health, resilience and ecosystem services for people by promoting economic activities that are climate-neutral, sustainable and productive.

The Partnership is coordinated by Italy, with Norway acting as co-coordinator.

The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership, SBEP Horizon Europe call has been opened within the Partnership. 28 maritime countries take part, including Ukraine. Duration: up to 36 months.
