The European Commission has launched a public survey to build a solid evidence base for shaping Food 2040. With this survey, they seek to gather valuable insights and perspectives from a wide range of stakeholders to help them create an effective strategic R&I agenda on food system by sharing their expertise and views.

The deadline is 13 March 2026, 12:00 CET.

Food 2030 is the R&I policy framework for advancing sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and healthy food system of food productivity. Since its launch in 2016, Food 2030 has pioneered the adoption of a systemic approach to connect, scale up, and boost EU R&I investments and impact with the support of Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe framework programmes. Food 2030 led to the funding of 117 EU-funded projects (2017-2024), representing an investment of around EUR 770 million and about 45 publications.

In 2025, the Life Sciences Strategy was published. In this Strategy, the European Commission committed to deliver a strategic R&I agenda on food systems to foster development of competitive, sustainable and resilient food system solutions, later on called Food 2040.
