Representatives of the NRFU held a training event in Chernivtsi (Day I)
On June 16-17, representatives of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine held a training event “Horizon Europe Work Programme 2025 and Grants of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine – New Opportunities for Ukrainian Scientists and Innovators” in Chernivtsi. The goal of the event was to familiarise Ukrainian scientists and innovators with new opportunities to participate in Horizon Europe calls under the new Work Programme 2025 and grants from the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the NRFU, and Yehor Pyvovarov, Policy Officer for Research and Innovation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine. The head of the NRFU also started the first working part with general information about the National Research Foundation, its structure and activities.
Continuing the working part, Vladyslav Mykhailenko, Leading Officer of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, told the participants about the EU’s flagship research and innovation Programme Horizon Europe. The participants also learned about the NRFU’s strategy for open science, which was presented by Tetiana Machulina, Head of the NRFU’s Department of Communications and International Cooperation. The organisational and legal aspects of the competitive selection and provision of grant support by the NRFU were revealed by Roman Paliy, Head of the Legal Support Division.
Igor Taranov, the Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, told the participants about the opportunities for Ukrainian scientists within the Horizon Europe Programme, in particular about its ERC component, as well as about the activities of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine. The financial and legal aspects of participation in the Horizon Europe Programme were revealed by the leading officers of the NRFU’s Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, Olga Kurykina and Oleksandr Moiseiev.
In addition, much attention was paid to such components of the Programme as Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, WIDERA, and Research Infrastructures, which were presented by Yuliia Reminska, Leading Officer of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, Nataliia Didenko, Deputy Head of the Department, and Nadiia Naumova, Leading Officer, respectively.
At the end of the working part, the participants asked the speakers many questions that interested them during the speeches.
The participants of the training were researchers, innovators, representatives of higher education institutions, authorities at various levels, NGOs, small and medium-sized businesses. The event became a platform for familiarising the participants with the current calls of the Horizon Europe Programme for 2025, as well as with the instruments of national grant support within the framework of the NRFU.
