On October 10, the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine hosted the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists “The Role of Land Reclamation and Water Management in Ensuring Sustainable Agricultural Development”. Among the key speakers of the event was a representative of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU – Natalia Didenko, PhD in Agriculture, Senior Researcher, Deputy Head of the Office.

Natalia Didenko presented Horizon Europe and its opportunities for Ukraine, in particular for the domestic agricultural sector. The information presented in the report caused considerable interest among the participants, who asked questions after the presentation.

Other topics covered during the conference included the Zero Waste Cities in Ukraine project, the role of young scientists in the post-war recovery of Ukrainian agriculture, and the peculiarities of climate change and how to take them into account when conducting research. In addition, Olesia Vashchuk, Head of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, presented a portfolio of a young scientist.

After the event, the Deputy Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine met with representatives of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and provided them with advice and consults on their future participation in the Programme. In particular, Natalia Didenko told them how to choose a call that would best suit the topic of their project, what the consortium should consist of, and how to seek partners. The parties agreed to hold a series of consultations in the future to write a project proposal and application for participation in the call.

The event was organized by the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with the support of the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management of the Georgian Technical University (Georgia), Bialystok University of Technology (Poland), and the Ohio State University (USA).
