Ukrainian Researchers in Germany: Networking and Cooperation Event 2024
On April 17, Igor Taranov, Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, took part in the online event “Ukrainian Researchers in Germany: Networking and Cooperation 2024”. The event, dedicated to current topics and challenges, funding needs and recommendations for Ukrainian researchers and innovators, was aimed at strengthening cooperation between researchers from Ukraine and Germany.
Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine is an important tool for strengthening international cooperation, as its main goal is to promote cooperation, knowledge exchange and synergy between Ukrainian researchers, innovators and their European partners. In this context, the Head of the Office spoke about the opportunities and benefits of the Horizon Europe. Participation in the Programme provides an opportunity to receive not only additional extra-budgetary funding, but also expands opportunities for researchers and innovators on a global scale.
The networking meeting was organized around four main topics:
- Current Challenges in the Ukrainian Academic Sector
- German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation
- Key Issues of Ukraine’s EU Accession Process and Options for Researchers to Shape the Debate
- New Academic and Societal Discourses in Ukraine and Germany.
The event of this format was aimed at creating a platform for networking and mutual learning for Ukrainian researchers working in Germany. The event was organized by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service, Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, Gerda Henkel Foundation, Leopoldina – German National Academy of Sciences, and VolkswagenStiftung. The speakers included leading experts from the Ukrainian higher education and research system.
