EUR 673 million is allocated to finance ERC Consolidator Grants 2026: preliminary selection results
The call for European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grants 2026 closed on 13 January 2026. The figures below present the preliminary data on submitted proposals.
The ERC received 3 060 applications, representing a 2% decrease compared to the 2025 call and a 32% increase compared to the 2024 call.
The Physical Sciences and Engineering domain attracted the highest number of applications, with 1 238 submissions (40.5%), followed by Social Sciences and Humanities with 1 086 submissions (35.5%), and Life Sciences with 736 submissions (24%).
Women submitted 38% of proposals, the same share as in 2025.
Under its Work Programme 2026, the ERC has earmarked €673 million to fund an estimated 328 grants. The evaluation of proposals is now under way, with the projects selected for funding expected to be announced in autumn 2026.
