The Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine ( NRFU) invites researchers, innovators, SMEs, policymakers, and security professionals to participate in the large-scale CERIS Workshop on Innovation Uptake, which will take place in Brussels at the end of September 2026. The event is organised by the European Commission.
The Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS) will bring together experts from across Europe to discuss opportunities for integrating and scaling up cutting-edge security solutions.

ARMAX NOVA, a private company specializing in Artificial Intelligence Engineering, is seeking partners to join Horizon Europe project consortia as a research & development and system integration partner under the following topic:
– HORIZON-CL3-2027-01-DRS-03 Enhancing emergency decision-support systems through the use of advanced technologies to improve public preparedness and strengthen crisis management capabilities.
ARMAX NOVA is interested in collaborating on the development and validation of a secure on-premises/private AI component designed for emergency and crisis management applications.
They welcome collaboration with research organizations, universities, public authorities, civil protection agencies, technology providers, and other stakeholders interested in building innovative solutions for societal resilience and emergency preparedness.
A new stage of integration: Ukrainian participants gain access to European Defence Fund calls
During the Defence Industry Forum in Kyiv, an association agreement with the European Defence Fund (EDF) was signed. This milestone opens new opportunities for Ukrainian and European companies, enabling them to form joint consortia and participate in EDF-funded defence research and development projects. Importantly, all activities under EDF projects, including technology testing and trials, may now be conducted in Ukraine.
In addition, Ukraine has gained access to project funding of up to €260 million under the EDIP Industrial Reinforced Actions (IRA) scheme, supported through the Ukraine Support Instrument. These funds will be allocated to joint projects aimed at strengthening the defence industrial capabilities of both Ukraine and European Union Member States.
Expanded cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the field of defence technologies promotes knowledge exchange, drives innovation, and enhances collective resilience to shared security challenges. A key role in this process is played by the European Union Defence Innovation Office (EUDIO) in Kyiv, which serves as a platform for cooperation between the defence industries of Ukraine and EU countries. Through its initiatives, the Office helps accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions by leveraging Ukraine’s unique expertise and technologies proven in real combat conditions.
As a result of this cooperation, Ukraine continues to deepen its integration into the European defence industrial ecosystem, while the European Union gains access to cutting-edge developments and valuable operational experience. This partnership contributes to strengthening the common security and defence capabilities of both Ukraine and Europe.
On July 27, 28 and 31, the Horizon Europe Proposal Writing Camp for Ukraine took place, organised for participants from Ukraine by experts from the European Commission’s Eastern Partnership* initiative. On July 30, an international matchmaking event aimed at building strong Horizon Europe Cluster Health and Cancer Mission consortia was held. The event organised the Estonian Research Council in cooperation with Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, Latvian Council of Science, Research Council of Lithuania, Polish National Centre for Research and Development, Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the UK Research and Innovation — together with their National Contact Points. The event was realised within the project Estonia’s Support for Integrating Ukraine into the European Research Area (16.02.2026-30.11.2027).
The headline speaker at the event was Tayisiya Symochko, Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine Leading Officer, whose area of expertise includes, amongst other things, health-related calls. She spoke on Ukraine’s participation in Horizon Europe health research. In particular, she presented comparative statistics on Ukrainian participation in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, specifically the number of successful projects and the amount of funding. The speaker also informed in detail about some projects currently being implemented by Ukrainian organisations.
In addition, participants had the opportunity to give a brief presentation to an audience, showcasing their organisation, idea or expertise (pitch). Among the participants who took part in the pitch session were 7 representatives from Ukraine, 1 from Canada and 1 from the Republic of Poland. Following the pitch session, the event featured b2b-meetings, during which the parties connected with potential consortium partners who could bring complementary expertise to their work and strengthen their future applications for Horizon Europe Work Programme 2027 calls, and also tested and refined their project ideas in a trusted, expert-driven environment. In particular, Ukrainian participants took part in 27 b2b-meetings.
The event brought together researchers, innovators, companies, and policy stakeholders working at the forefront of the field of healthcare and oncology in order to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and lay the groundwork for competitive European research consortia. In total, more than 70 persons joined the matchmaking event.

On July 22, 2026, a joint Polish-Ukrainian workshop, with the participation of representatives of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU, dedicated to studying system of National Contact Points (NCPs) of Poland and exchanging best practices within the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe, was held at the National Centre for Research and Development (Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju, NCBR) in Warsaw (Poland).
