On November 17-19, 2025, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University is holding the KNU Marathon «United by Science». The annual event is timed to the Day of Science in the Name of Peace and Development with the aim of stimulating interdisciplinary scientific cooperation within the university to actualize and intensify grant activities at KNU, in particular, within the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe. The 7th edition of the Fit4Funding e-learning course takes place from 20 February – 26 March 2026.
Join the event if you are a junior scientist who likes to improve your knowledge in European funding programmes for Research & Innovation (R&I). After this course, you will have sufficient knowledge to kick-off your own European funding journey.
You will get:
an introduction on the relevant political background of European funding and an overview of available programmes
insights on proposal preparation, peer review processes & information on programmes for developing your career
an overview on important cross-cutting topics in the context of European R & I projects
And you will learn the EU “jargon” and how to make use of the Austrian support structures when preparing a project.
Target group: junior scientists from universities, research organisations and companies.

Horizon Europe for culture and creativity: VII International Cultural Grant Fair took place
On 11 November, the VII International Cultural Grant Fair took place in Kyiv. The Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine (the Office), operating under the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU), took part in the event.
During the Fair, information about the Horizon Europe Framework Programme was presented by Ihor Taranov, Head of the Office. He highlighted the opportunities available to artists, cultural managers, organizations and creative initiatives — with particular focus on Cluster 2: Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society.
In particular, Igor Taranov, Head of the Office, presented the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe and its opportunities for artists, cultural managers, organisations and initiatives from across the cultural and creative sectors throughout Ukraine, focusing on Cluster 2: Culture, creativity and inclusive society. The Office’s experts also provided individual consultations for participants interested in applying for EU funding, offering guidance on how to prepare successful project proposals and attract support for cultural and creative initiatives.
Participants had the opportunity to attend:
presentations from leading national and international programmes and initiatives supporting the cultural and creative sectors;
consultations with key grant-funding institutions that promote Ukrainian culture and strengthen international cooperation;
networking sessions, discussions and experience-sharing events that encouraged new partnerships and professional connections.
Note that this year marked the second time when the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine participated in the International Cultural Grant Fair as expert contributor.
International Cultural Grant Fair is the largest annual event organised by the Creative Europe Desk in Ukraine in partnership with leading national and international institutions. Each year, the Fair brings together around a thousand professionals from across the cultural and creative sectors throughout Ukraine.
European Commission adopted EIC Work Programme for 2026
Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine informs that the European Commission has adopted the 2026 Work Programme of the European Innovation Council under the Horizon Europe Programme. Thanks to this, funding opportunities worth over €1.4 billion for strategic technologies and scaling up companies have become available to support strategic technologies and scale companies.(more…)
