On November 12, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine hosted a seminar «EU Horizon Europe Programme: Opportunities for Ukrainian Researchers». The event was organised jointly within two NCP’s, i.e. «Legal and Financial Aspects» and the «European Research Council», operating on the basis of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Research under the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.Representatives of the NRFU’s Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine were among the leading speakers.
Specifically, Maksym Kolisnyk, Leading Officer, presented the general aspects of the Horizon Europe Programme, its structure and opportunities for different groups of applicants, including statistics on the current participation of Ukrainian applicants and information on open calls. In addition, Oleksandr Moiseev, Leading Officer, informed the attendees about the grant instruments of the European Innovation Council (EIC), its structure and nuances of participation in calls for proposals.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions on multiple aspects of Horizon Europe participation, covering topics such as legal and financial considerations, the appointment and replacement of the LEAR (Legal Entity Appointed Representative), nuances of consortium formation, application submission, and the grant agreement signing process. Speakers, including representatives from the Office, received numerous questions from attendees.
The seminar also featured representatives from NCPs for «Legal and Financial Aspects», «European Research Council», «Civil Security for Society», «European Innovation Council and European Innovation Ecosystems», along with the Programme Committee for Research Infrastructures. This collaborative approach enables access to the latest Horizon Europe updates, facilitates network-building among partners, fosters knowledge exchange, and promotes active cooperation to boost the participation of Ukrainian organisations in Horizon Europe calls.
The event was conducted in a hybrid format, bringing together Ukrainian researchers, representatives from higher education institutions, and project organisations. The objective was to inform the Ukrainian research and innovation community about the specific requirements for participation in the Horizon Europe Framework Programme and to highlight the activities of the NCP network.

Each webpage includes a short explainer on Horizon Europe support to a specific ERA policy priority, a showcase of key resources, tools and videos from funded activities, and an overview of past and new calls.
This content results from the joint Feedback-to-Policy work of RTD and REA, with the objectives to:
✓ Communicate more effectively about the links between the framework programme and the ERA policy, allowing to highlight contributions to the ERA from different Work Programme parts (e.g., WIDERA, Research Infrastructures, Clusters);
✓ Strengthen promotion and exploitation of project results by stakeholders in Member States and Associated Countries;
✓ Provide information for potential applicants to the Work Programme to develop synergies and complementarities with current projects and results.
This content is a work in progress and will be continuously updated, including to reflect the contribution of the framework programme to the next ERA Policy Agenda.
Expanding international cooperation: The Office participated in a working meeting with representatives of Lund University
On November 7, specialists of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU took part in a meeting of the University Working Group on academic assistance to Ukraine at Lund University in Sweden. Employees of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU are constantly improving their skills, including through relevant training from the EC, in order to provide useful and necessary information to stakeholders on opportunities for additional funding from the EU, in particular the Horizon Europe Programme. Thus, on November 6, the Office’s specialists took part in an online training event on EU grant opportunities for regions and local authorities to promote climate resilience. The event, organised within the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, joined 175 participants.(more…)
