We are starting the new year by searching for partners for the Estonian small enterprise Iris Group Ukraine.

Iris Group Ukraine aims to join a partner consortium planning to submit a project proposal under Cluster 5 Climate, Energy and Mobility of the Horizon Europe Programme, call HORIZON-CL5-2026-D2-01:
‘Development of sustainable and design-to-cost batteries with (energy-) efficient manufacturing processes and based on advanced and safer materials (Batt4EU Partnership)’.

Iris Group Ukraine is interested in partnering within an established consortium and brings manufacturing expertise in the following areas:

  • Industrial demonstration;

  • Digital implementation;

  • SME-oriented adoption and exploitation (implementation and commercialisation).

The Estonian company is developing an industrial site in Ukraine and has experience in:

  • Industrial digitalisation;

  • Data integration and digital twins;

  • Sustainability and carbon-related KPIs;

  • Real-world industrial pilot projects in Ukraine.

An online consultation was held for representatives of the U-Food Association

On 26 December 2025, specialists from the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine held an online consultation for representatives of the U-Food Association (Ukrainian Food Association). The meeting began with an introduction of the participants and continued with a discussion of issues of interest to them.

During the event, Bogdan Shapoval, Director of the U-Food Association, outlined the main areas of the Association’s activities, while Manager Natalia Fedchuk presented her vision for analytical support for the agri-food sector and the preparation of joint research and innovation projects.

Deputy Head of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine Nataliia Didenko introduced the participants to the Office’s operations and key areas of work. Information was also provided on the opportunities offered by the Horizon Europe Programme in the context of Cluster 6, ‘Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment’.

Leading Officer Vladyslav Mykhailenko presented the Programme’s grant opportunities, focusing on support for breakthrough research and innovation, as well as on the practical results of projects that contribute to positive change in society.

Specialists of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine provided explanations regarding the Programme’s instruments, conditions for participation in calls for proposals, requirements for consortia, and possible formats for involving Ukrainian organisations in Horizon Europe projects.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed the idea of organising a donor conference as a platform for attracting international grant resources, presenting current initiatives and the needs of Ukraine’s agri-food sector, and developing cooperation with European and international institutions.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue and explore promising areas of cooperation.

Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU joined the scientific and practical conference of NCP European Innovative Ecosystems in Ukraine

On December 11, representatives of Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, NRFU took part in an event organised by the National Contact Point on the Horizon Europe European Innovation Council and European Innovation Ecosystems. The scientific and practical conference aimed to gather researchers, civil servants, representatives of state scientific institutions and private innovative companies. Within the framework of three sessions, the participants assessed the potential of interaction between science and business, discussed ways to overcome the challenges facing the scientific community, and considered practical cases of business participation in strengthening the innovative component of the national economy.
